In her early 70s, Hum shows no signs of slowing down. Retired from
benefits and paychecks, she’s a prolific, full time artist, instructor and
perpetual student with seemingly boundless energy. She can be found tackling new fine art techniques, annually producing new calendars and as many as 30 new note cards, showing her work regionally in galleries and
under the tent at nearby art festivals and being an active participant in
various art organizations.
Sue Ann thrives on learning and exploring and is nourished by friendships and collaborations with other artists.
Oils, watercolors, acrylics, papers, and even gilding with 23K gold are
among Hum’s artistic arsenal. She is best known for her empowering,
enlightening, sassy, and sometimes smart-assy SHE SAID series of works
which sells nationally (and a bit in Canada, too, eh!).
“Storytelling through art fascinates me,” says Multi Media Artist Sue Ann
Hum. “Standing at the easel, conceptualizing the work, I’m guided to the medium which will best express my feelings.”
WHO knows what she’ll come up with next?
She lives in Hancock with her husband and enjoys flower gardening, choral singing, Mah Jongg, traveling and endless games of ball with their dog.
